Types of Mangoes in Pakistan (National Fruit of Pakistan)

Pakistani mangoes are mostly being grown in other sorts of tropical forests, mainly in the North. These forested areas are badly affected by environmental factors, yet this doesn't affect the taste of their mangoes.

Mango trees are extremely tolerant to dry climates and hot temperatures; this makes them ideal for a typical agricultural setting. The most common way to get the fruit from a mango tree is to pick it when it's still hanging on the branch.

It is also known as national fruit of Pakistan, whereas in Pakistan mango is also called the king of fruits, huge verity of mango's are available in Pakistan and its a best gift you can take with you while going as a guest in summer.

There are various different types of mangoes available in Pakistan, depending on their season of growth and where they're grown. The mango is naturally green until it matures, and then turns a deep shade of purple. When picking a mango, it is best to pick the ones that are green or purple; this way, the fruit will be eaten raw with no added sweetness. There are many different types of ripe mangoes that are available in Pakistan, and I'm going to go over some of them here.

The first variety of mangoes that you'll come across are the Kashmir mangoes, which are yellow in color and are usually cultivated in an arid climate. These mangoes are very popular all across Pakistan as they're known for their meaty, nutty and creamy flavor. The yellowing of these mangoes occur during the course of spoilage and is natural. The yellowing is natural and doesn't harm the taste, unlike some other varieties of mangoes that tend to lose their color when exposed to air.

The next type of mango varieties that are sold in Pakistan are the pink mangoes, which are cultivated in an area near the Indian border. These varieties have a flesh that's darker in color than the Kashmir mangoes, and also have a sweet pulp inside. You can easily recognize the pinkish color of these fruits by looking at the inside of the flesh - it will have a slight reddish tint to it.

The third variety of mangoes that are commonly consumed fruits in Pakistan are the jack-o-lantern varieties that are found all across India. The jack-o-lantern fruit is half way between a normal mango and an acid fruit, which means it doesn't have its sweet taste. It has a bitter taste in comparison to the normal mango. These jack-o-lanterns aren't eaten raw, but instead they are consumed as part of a fruit salad.

The fourth type of mangoes that are commonly sold in Pakistan is called the Malabar variety. The Malabar fruit comes from a large fruit tree with an aromatic, slightly lemon like flavor. The fruit is usually eaten raw, but is also popularly used in various recipes. A typical recipe for this fruit consists of pieces of Assam Rakia roasted in vegetable oil until it becomes a deep dark red color. It is then mixed into yogurt and consumed with rice and curd. A strong, intense fruit smell will be released from the Malabar fruit.

Lastly, one of the commonest types of mangoes that are consumed in Pakistan is the Silver coin shaped variety. The coin shaped fruit is about two to three inches long and has a very sweet taste, which has been likened to a combination of mango and apple. The flesh of this fruit has a very rich taste which is usually very sweet and has a medium consistency. It is rare to find this type of mango available in stores in Pakistan, which is mainly due to its rarity.

All these types of mangoes in Pakistan can be consumed fresh, dried or even pickled. However, it is important to note that any fruit that has a yellow flesh should be carefully tasted as it could very well contain little or no natural sugars and acidity. When picking, use a small, thin cut for maximum concentration of sweetness and acidity. To make a delicious juice from the yellow flesh of this fruit, mix together the following ingredients: ripe tomatoes, onions, green chilies, tamarind, salt and ground cumin.
