The Green Line BRTS (Bus Rapid Transit Service) will be connected to the proposed routes of the Trans Karachi Breeze project at different points, with the aim of improving Karachi's transportation infrastructure. The project is considered a high-priority initiative by the Pakistan Government/Ministry of Communications, as determined by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in their feasibility study for the Karachi Transportation Improvement Project.

Despite several deadlines set by the current PTI government, the project has yet to be completed, and the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Rs24 billion federal-funded project has yet to take place. Karachi has experienced increasingly severe traffic congestion due to its strategic location and fast-growing economy.

Chinese auto manufacturer Zhongtong has been awarded the contract to provide 100 new energy buses for the project. The Green Line BRT is expected to facilitate over 300,000 daily passengers after completion. The project is expected to be operational by the end of the year, offering a much-needed solution to Karachi's transportation challenges.
